Respecting Your Privacy

Alberta Privacy Legislation places specific restrictions and guidelines on how your personal information can be used, and Comp U Learn is compliant with these regulations.

This Privacy Policy summarizes how we collect information from you and how we use it. By using this site or enrolling in a course through Comp U Learn, you consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and to the use of your information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use our site or enroll in our courses.

  1. Information Collected
    1. To use the services of Comp U Learn , you may be required to provide some or of all the following information: your name, home telephone number, work telephone number, fax number, email address, employer name (if any), and information about the Comp U Learn courses in which you are interested.
    2. We also collect general information to better understand user demographics, to improve our web site and to better meet your needs; such as the avenues that brought you to our site, the services and products you request from Comp U Learn.
  2. Uses and Disclosure of Information
    We will not release or use your personal information without your consent, except as specified in this Privacy Policy.
    1. The information that you supply to Comp U Learn will be used to respond to your inquiries and to provide you with courses, products, and services from Comp U Learn.
    2. We may use your personal information to contact you by telephone, email or regular mail in respect of Comp U Learn course offerings, promotions, announcements, market research surveys and to effectively administer our relationship with you. The use of the information collected in any market research surveys will be explained to you in such surveys.
    3. Comp U Learn may share aggregate information about our users with business partners, and other third parties, but such information will not personally identify any individual. (For example: Comp U Learn has x number of students from Pincher Creek and x number of students from Fort Macleod.)
    4. If you have not been registered in, or inquired about, a Comp U Learn course for three years, then personal information about you will only be used for internal record keeping purposes, as required by law, or as otherwise explicitly permitted by you. Comp U Learn may also retain general information about you which does not identify you personally, but may still be included with our aggregate information which may be provided to third parties. As with the agreement between the Contractor (Comp U Learn) to the Government of Alberta the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act is in place.
    5. The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act places legal responsibilities on Alberta Employment and Immigration (AE&I), and by extension its Contractors, for the protection of personal information collected, used, disclosed and managed as a result of the contract.
    6. The FOIP Act applies to all records in the custody or under the control of a public body. In the case of a contract with the Minister, AE&I is the public body. As a result, records in the hands of Contractors that are under AE&Iís control are subject to both the access and privacy provisions of the FOIP Act. We DO NOT sell, rent or provide outside access to our mailing list.
  3. Concerns or Complaints
    If you have any concerns or complaints regarding the use of your personal information by Comp U Learn, please contact our office directly by phone or fax, or through the contact form on our web site http://www.culearn.ca.
  4. Links and Other Sites Associated with Comp U Learns
    Our site may contain links to other sites, including sites of reference. We do not endorse or otherwise accept responsibility for the content or privacy policies of those sites. You should carefully review the privacy statements and other terms of use for such sites. These other sites may send their own cookies to users collect data or solicit personal information.
  5. Changes to this Privacy Policy
    Comp U Learn reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Notification of any substantial alteration of this policy will be posted on our home page. Your continued use of this site after any modifications are posted to the site shall constitute your acceptance of all such modifications.
